Genus: Brauccipycnodus TAVERNE & CAPASSO, 2021
Etymology: In honor of Niccolo Braucci (1719-1774), a medical physician, professor at the University of Naples, who was teh first scientist to have studied the fossil fishes form Pietraroja (Cappso, 2007: 14. fig. 1). unfortunatly , his premature death did not allow the publication of this manuscript. The generic naem Pycnodus is added to his patronym.
