Etymology: Greek, para-, "near"; is used to indicate similarity in eggshell microstrucutre to the exisiting oogenus Elongatooithus.

Oospecies: reticulates WANG, WANG, ZHAO & JIANG, 2010
Etymology: Latin, reticulatus,"reticulated"; in reference to the texture of the outer surface of the eggshell.

Holotype: IVPP V 16514

Locality: Chengguan, Tiantai, Zhenjiang Province, China.

Horizon: Chichengshan Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Late Cretaceous.

Material: A partial egg.
