Etymology: In reference to the Zizgong County, Sichuan Province, China, where the fossil was found and Greek, sauros, "lizard": “Zizhgon lizard”.

Etymology: In reference to the town of Chuancheng, Zizhong County, Sichuan (Szechwan) Province, China and the Latin, ensis, "from."

Holotype: IVPP V 9067

Locality: Luanshai, Zizhong County, Sichuan (Szechwan) Province, China.

Horizon: Da'anzhai member of Ziliujing Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: ?Sinemurian/Toarcian Stage, Lias Epoch, Early Jurassic.

Material: A dorsal spine, a distal end of pubis and a fragmentary humerus.
