Chinese, Yanta, "wild goose tower" referes to a famous historical spot in Chuxiong Yi Autonomous Prefecture, where the holotype was collected, and Chinese, loong, pinyin word for "Dragon".

Etymology: In honor of Professor Wenxun Lin for his outstanding contriubtions to Chinese economic history studies and his significant support for palaeontological research in Yunnan.

Locality: Zhongbanjing Village, Jiangyi Township, Yuanmou County, Chuxiong Yi Autonomous Prefectrue, Yunnan Province, China.
Horizon: Zhanghe Formation.
Biostratigraphy:
Age: Aalenian/Bajocian Stage, Dogger Epoch, Middle Jurassic.
Material: A partial skeleton consisting of 6 nearly complete presacral vertebrae; possible posterior-most cervical vertebrae and 5 dorsal vertebrae..
