Etymology: Malagsay, Rapeto, a mischievous giant of Malagasy folklore, and Greek, sauros, "lizard."

Etymology: In honor of David W. Krause, in recognition of his contributions to paleontology in Madagascar.

Locality: MAD 96-02, Mahajanga basin, Mahajana Province, northwestern Madagascar.

Age: Maastrichtian Stage, Latest Senonian Subepoch, Upper Gulf Epoch, Late Cretaceous.

Material: Adult skull including right maxilla with 8 teeth, left maxilla, right lachrymal, left jugal, right and left nasals, right quadrate, right and left pterygoids, partial basioccipital, right paroccipital process, left dentary with 11 teeth, both angulars, right surangular and 5 associated teeth.
