Etymology: Greek, dasos, "forest/copse," and Greek, sauros, "lisard/saurian."
In reference to thelocation of hte digging site within 'Brazil's Legal Amazonia', a socio-geographical division of the country that includes most of the Amazon rainfroest (Nogueira, et al. 2028), as well as to a possible origin of the name of the state wtere the site is locacated, i.e. Maranhao, which may derive from the Portugues word 'emaranhado' (= tangleed), in reference to the thich vegetation of the area.

Etymology: In reference to Tocantins, a major South American river, which also gives its name to the administrative region of the Maranhao state, where the new fossils were collected, near the eastern banks of the said river.

Locality: Davinopolis-MA, near Imperatriz-MA, 5°33'25"S, 47°25'52"W, Maranhao State, Brazil.
Horizon: Lower part of the Itapecuru Formation.
