Etymology: In referene to the town of Portll, in which the fossil wasdiscovered, and Greek, sauros, "lizard."

Etymology: In honor of Vicente Sos Baynat, a Spanish geologist born in Castello de la Plana and the first scientist to be honoured with the title of "Doctor honoris Causa" by Universitat Jaume I.

Holotype: MQ98-II-1

Locality: A site near Mas de Curolles, Portell, Castellon, Spain.

Horizon: Margas de Mirambell Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Early Barremian to early late Barremian Stage, Early Gallic Subepoch, Lower Early Cretaceous Epoch, Early Cretaceous.

Material: Almost complete right dentary.
