Etymology: Latin, magnus, "large" and Latin, rostrum, "beak": for the robust rostral bone of this specimen.

Species: dodsoni YOU & DONG, 2003
Etymology: In honor of Peter Dodson for his contribution to the study of horned dinosaurs.

Holotype: IVPP V12513

Locality: Bayan Mandahu, Urad Houqi, Inner Mongolia (Nei Mongolia), China.

Horizon: Djadochta Formation, Redbeds.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Middle Campanian Stage, Senonian Subepoch, Gulf Epoch, Late Cretaceous.

Material: An almost complete skull and articulated lower jaw.
