Genus: Gongbusaurus DONG, ZHOU & ZHANG, 1983
Etymology: Chinese, gong “worker”, Chinese bu, “board, ministry” and Greek, sauros, lizard; Board of works lizard.
= Eugongbusaurus KNOLL, 1999 (nomen nudum)
Note: This name was used in an abstract in 1999 attributed to Knoll. This abstract was published without his consent and the name is considered invalid (KNOLL pers. comm.)

Species: shiyii DONG, ZHOU & ZHANG, 1983
Etymology:

Holotype: IVPP V9069

Locality: Hunjuoshi, Hunghis (Rongxian), Sichuan (Szechwan) Province, China.

Horizon: Shangshaximiao Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Bathonian-Callovian Stage, Middle Malm Epoch, Early Late Jurassic.

Material: 2 teeth, one from the premaxilla.

Species: wucaiwanensis DONG, 1989
Etymology:
= Eugongbusaurus wucaiwanensis (DONG, 1989) KNOLL, 1999 (nomen nudum)

Holotype: IVPP 8303

Locality: Kelamaili, Wucaiwan, Kelamaili region, Junggar Basin, Xinjiang Uygur Zizhiqu (Sinkang) Province, China.

Horizon: Shishugou Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Oxfordian Stage, Malm Epoch, Early Late Jurassic.

Material: Fragmentary left dentary with teeth, humerus, radius. and 3 caudal vertebrae.

Paratype:

IVPP V 8304: 2 sacral vertebrae, 8 caudal vertebrae and a pair of complete hindlimbs.
