Etymology: The generic name refers to Batyrs, Kazakh heroic knights, and Greek, sauros, "lizard."

Etymology: In honor of the famous Russian paleontologist A. N. Rozhdestvensky for his pioneering works on Middle Asian Iguanodontia.

Holotype: AEHM 4/1

Locality: Akhurgan locality, in the Kzyl-Orda Oblast', 135 km norht of the Dzhusala railway station, east of the Aral Sea, Central Kazakhstan.

Horizon: Bostobinskaya Svita.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Santonian-Campanian Stage, Senonian Subepoch, Upper Gulf Epoch, Late Cretaceous.

Material: Partial skull and mandible, about 60 isolated teeth, paired sternals, a right humerus, a left radius, fragmentary metacarpals and manual phalanges.
