Etymology: For the ancient Arstan well and benchmark of the same name close to the fossil locality in Kazakhstan and Greek, sauros, “lizard”: “Arstan lizard”.

Species: akkurganensis SUSLOV vide SHILIN, 1982 (nomen dubium)
Etymology: In reference to the locality of Akkurgan, Northeast of the Aral Sea, Southern Kazakhstan, where the material was collected.

Holotype: Inst. Zool. AN KazSSR, 1/1

Locality: Dzhusalin or the Nizhnesyrdr'in uplift, Akkurgan, Northeast of the Aral Sea, Southern Kazakhstan.

Horizon: Bostobinskaya Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Santonian-Campanian Stage, Senonian Subepoch, Gulf Epoch, Late Cretaceous.

Material: Fragmentary left maxilla, and isolated tooth.
