Genus: Yungavolucris CHIAPPE, 1993
Etymology: Yunga, Province of Salta, Argentina referring to the photo geographic region in which El Brete is located and Latin, volucris, “bird.”

Species: brevipedalis CHIAPPE, 1993
Etymology: From Latin, brevis, “short” and Latin, pedalis, "foot": referring to the foot.

Holotype: PVL-4053

Locality: 26°02’07”S, 65°19’57”W, Estancia El Brete, Department of Candelaria, Province of Salta, Argentina.

Horizon: Lecho Formation, Balbuena Subgroup, Salta Group.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Maastrichtian Stage, Upper Senonian Subepoch, Upper Gulf Epoch, Late Cretaceous.

Material: Nearly complete right tarsometatarsus, lacking the craniolateral border of the lateral cotyla and the cranial portion of the trochlea of metatarsal IV.

Paratypes:

PVL 4040, 4692: Incomplete right tarsometatarsi.

PVL 4052: Incomplete left tarsometatarsus.

PVL 4268: A distal trochlea of right metatarsals II and III.
