Genus: Yangavis WANG & ZHOU, 2018
Etymology: In honor of the late distinguished Chinese palaeontologist Zhongjian Yang (also known as Chung Chein Young), in memory of the 121th anniversary of Yang's birth. He was widely considered the founder of Chinese vertebrate palaeontology, and Greek, avis, "bird".

Species: confucii WANG & ZHOU, 2018
Etymology: The specific name is derived from Confucius, intended to show its close affinity with other confuciusornithids.

Holotype: IVPP V18929

Locality: Sihedang locality, near Lingyuan City, Liaoning Province, China.

Horizon: Yixian Formation, Lowest Jehol Biota.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Aptian Stage, Lower Gallic Subepoch, Early Cretaceous Epoch, Early Cretaceous.

Material: Skull and skeleton of a nearly complete specimen.
