Etymology: Greek, krater, “cup, and Greek, sauros, “lizard”: “cup (skull) lizard”.

Species: pottonensis SEELEY, 1874 (nomen dubium)
Etymology: In reference to Potton, near where the specimen was found.

Holotype: CAMSM (old SMC) B.28814

Locality: Potton Sands, near Potton, Bedfordshire, Sussex County, England, Southern United Kingdom.

Horizon: Woburn Sands Formation, Wealden (Woburn Sands, reworked).

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Lower Aptian Stage, Middle Gallic Subepoch, Upper Early Cretaceous Epoch, Early Cretaceous

Note: Reworked and found in a late Aptian Formation (Galton, 1981).

Material: Incomplete dorsal neural arch.
