Genus: Vinitasaura SUES & KLIGMAN, 2021
Etymology: In reference to the Vinita Formation in eastcentral Virgina, from which the specimens were recovered, and Greek, saura, "lizard."

Etymology: In honor of Elizabeth (Liz) Sues in recognition of her indefatigable assistance in the field and great skill in finding small vertebrate remains.

Holotype: USNM PAL 770099

Locality: USNM locality 39981 (Tomahawk Locality), 0.16 km (0.1 miles) east of the eastern branch of Little Tomahawk Creek along the northeastern side of Old Hundred Road (VA 652), Lat. 77°40’15"N, long 37°27’45"W, Hallsboro 7.5 Minute Quadrangle, near Midlothian, Chesterfield County, Virginia.

Horizon: Tomahawk Member, Turkey Branch Formation, Newark Supergroup.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Early to middle Carnian, Lower Late Triassic Epoch, Late Triassic.

Material: A nearly complete left dentary with at least 27 teeth and tooth positions.

Hypodigm:

USNM PAL 770100: Posterior portion of left dentary with 7 teeth.
