Etymology: Greek, stauroma, "palisade, stockade" and Greek, odon, "tooth" in reference to the palisade-like appearance of the dentary tooth row.

Etymology:
In reference honor of Mr. Fabian Mohl who found the holotype.
Holotype: SMNS 91427
Locality: Schumann limestone quarry, southeast of Eschenau, municipality of Vellberg, Baden-Württemberg State, Germany.
Horizon: Lower Keuper (Erfurt Formation).
Biostratigraphy: Untere Graue Mergel, unite E6c-d (SCHOCH & SEGIS, 2016).
Age: Longobardian, Ladinian Stage, Late Mid Triassic Epoch, Late Middle Triassic.
Material: A partial left dentary with 5 complete teeth, one partially preserved tooth, and 2 representd only by impressions: impression of teh anterior portion of the left dentary in the matrix.
