Locality: Krietfontein Spruit, the Commonage, Aliwal North, Eastern Cape Province, South Africa.

Horizon: Burgersdorp Formation, Tarkastad Subgroup.

Biostratigraphy: Cynognathus zone.

Age: Spathian Stage, uppermost Scythian Epoch to Anisian Stage, lowermost Mid Triassic Epoch, Early to Middle Triassic.

Material: Skull, lower jaw, shoulder-girdle, cervical and dorsal vertebrae, right fore-limb without hand, abdominal ribs, pelvis, and most of the left hind limb.

SAM 6049 (Haughton’s specimen 4): Posterior dorsal, sacral and anterior caudal vertebrae, pelvis and right hind limb and portions of coracoids and interclavicale.

AMNH 5547: Counter slab from the type showing practically the complete abdominal ribs.

AMNH 5548: Anterior portion of the tail showing about a dozen vertebrae, with chevrons, and a few dermal ossification’s along the spines of the vertebrae are paired, and a row of ossification’s along the ventral side.
