Genus: Protecovasaurus HECKERT, 2004
Etymology: Greek, pro-, "first or primary"; Tecovas, for the formation
yielding the holotype, and Greek, sauros, "lizard": The early Tecovas
saurian and also in reference to its lower stratigaphic position relative to
the holotype of Tecovasaurus murryi.
