Genus: Funcusvermis KLIGMAN, GEE, MARSH, NESIBTT, SMITH, PARKER & STOCKER, 2023
Etymology: Latinized form of the English word, funky (funk is an upbeat, rhythmic form of dance music), and Latin, vermis, "worm." In honor of the 1982 song Funky Worm from the album Pleasure by the Ohio Players.

Etymology: In honor of N. Gilmore, collections manager at the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel university in Philadelphia, PA, USA.
